Eastbourne Primary School has a proud history of providing students with a fantastic ‘Hands On’ Performing Arts program.
All students receive an hour music lesson per week with a full time music specialist using a variety of instruments including ukuleles, djembe drums and other percussion as well as recorder, drums and piano.
Students learn about music and its place in the world and in turn learn to play, sing and dance themselves.
Students from grades 3-6 use a variety of computer technologies to create their own compositions.
Eastbourne also boasts its own in school radio station where children can record and play their own songs and present radio programs during recess and lunchtimes.
Eastbourne offers an expansive instrumental music program which provides students with the opportunity to hire and receive tuition on a variety of instruments.
Hire and instrumental lessons are available for keyboard, acoustic and electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, violin, flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone and saxophone. Singing lessons can also be arranged through the school.
Once students have learnt to play their instrument they are invited to join the Eastbourne Concert Band. There is also a rock band for advanced students, a choir which forms in the last term of each year and the Eastbourne Drum Group. Students can also attend the Southern Peninsula Music Camp run in conjunction with other schools in our network. Our bands and choir and other groups perform throughout the year at assemblies and also at other community events including Australia Day celebrations and Neighbour Day.
Our grade 5 and 6 students present an annual musical in third term and all grades from P-6 perform in an end of year concert for the whole school community.
Our music program aims to build confidence and nurture a love of music and performance by providing quality opportunities for our children to enjoy.
